Tribute to my Great-Great Grandma. Miss you <3 by B. Woodard

This post is dedicated to my great-great grandmom, Bell. She passed away 10 years ago this month just before her 103rd birthday. I was born at the end of the very same year in December. So I didn’t meet her but I was named after her and this always makes me so proud. My parents talk about the things she used to: When she saw an airplane in the sky for the first time (and ran for dear life) and about rations during what she called “Hoover Times. And we talk about how proud she was to vote for President Obama—she could NOT believe she had that chance. She taught herself how to read and write and was kind but strong, VERY smart, and brave. And she is my biggest reminder of the difference one person can make. She’s become part of my dreams and I think I’m hers too. ❤️-Bellen

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” -Dr. King
