Girls Day in DC For International Women's Day! by B. Woodard

After a bit of traveling, we got to spend a rare day of just the girls to celebrate International Women’s Day...so stopped in DC. Nice day & weather & saw my first cherry blossom of spring. (Love those!)

But did you know (I didn’t!) there’s an inscription at the Lincoln Memorial that marks the exact spot where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. actually stood when he gave "I Have a Dream”? I was looking for it and missed it like 5 times and I just wondered how many actually know it’s there when they come to visit because no one really seemed to notice. But standing where Dr. King stood and imagining looking out at a sea of people is a pretty amazing thing to do when you think about it. So next time if you’re there, don’t forget to look for it: It’s 18 steps from the top landing of the Lincoln Memorial and it’s very faint but it’s there! It would be great if everyone visiting knew too!🤔

Here’s what it says:
I HAVE A DREAM
MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.
THE MARCH ON WASHINGTON
FOR JOBS AND FREEDOM
AUGUST 28, 1963
